Book Review: KGAKGG

Autobiography is an attractive read out as it showcases a life saga in most prolific way where a success story is filled with all phases of life like disappointments, hard-work, vision, discipline, success , escapes and somewhat humour as well.
While going through the autobiographies like My experiments with truth by MK Gandhi, Autobiography of a Yogi by Paramhansa Yoganand or Apprenticed to Himalayan Masters by Sri M have been motivating and inspirational for me at least but this Kitne Ghazi Aaye, Kitne Ghazi Gaye by Retired, Lieutenant General KJS Tiny Dhillon is altogether a different experience to go through.
Lieutenant General KJS Dhillon has been India’s top soldier who has penned down an extract of disciplined profile in olive green with vitality, Virility and vigour summoned with icing of emotions, family values, companionship and camaraderie in 300 odd pages.
This different experience of autobiography sums up the inside out experiences of various military operations and also ethical values all across the cadres.

When asked, by a student in Gujrat, Sir, How challenging is an army job? Lt Gn places a befitting reply as

आर्मी एक जॉब नहीं है, मोहब्बत है,
और मोहब्बत में चैलेंजेज़ नहीं होते, अफ़साने होते हैं!

This only statement decodes the dedication Indian soldiers put forward and establish a passionate love & drive to serve the nation upfront while leading and saving the nation from insurgencies.

I being a doctor, a doctor tale by Lt Gn KJS Dhillon is worthy to be mentioned in here.
It epitomises the sacrifice of a buddy soldier to Regimental Medical Officer in 1999 Kargil war where an uphill task to a near vertical climb exhausted with all food stuff.
This buddy soldier was left with just few puris and he did not eat it for himself but he kept handing over 2 to 3 pieces of Puris to this buddy RMO on his two-day long haul.

Later, after ascending the hill, buddy soldier was summoned by RMO, and was asked why he did do like this?
Soldier just mentioned, Your life is precious as you are the only Doctor among us 100 jawans on the mission.

This only note did present an exemplary dedication of this passionate soul.
Our head remains bowed to this Mother Earth which produces such human beings who are ready to make supreme sacrifices for their mother land.

On his long posting there in Jammu and Kashmir, Lieutenant General KJS Dhillon has written many incidents, all the way from rise of terrorism way back in 1988 to abrogation of 370 and 35A in August 2019.
This Kashmir story has been elaborative and sumptuous while Lieutenant General Sir spent large part of his army posting in J&K only. He knows the politics, geography, ethnicity, culture and religion of Jammu and Kashmir just like his back of hand.

This biography shows how tough is Indian Army and how wives of army man are congenially subtle and emotionally strong.

The take home message is Real-Time Response. It is very elaborately highlighted by Lieutenant General Sir.
Lesson of life is learnt again in this autobiography
ऑफ़िसर हमेशा आगे

Until you delve into the depth, one remains pre-opinionated for what is being served as misinformation.
When one goes through with these 307 pages eyes get wide open to understand the Bright face of Army which helps deliver health services, runs Army welfare Schools & takes care of a soldier’s family, whose supreme sacrifice left his children almost to be orphan.

And the political commitment after Pulwama, did get an appropriate showcase not only with Ghazi elimination but also with abrogation of 370 and 35A within six months.

I remain obliged and thrilled as I went through with this autobiography and now this book is available in Hindi also.
Thanks Sir for this Book and all your efforts to safeguard the nation.
