Happy or Sad : Choose your Hormones!!!

Dr AK Bhadoria

This era belongs exclusively to stress. Choices are many to remain happy, so are ample number of reasons for being disappointed and subsequently not leading to restore normal state of being happy. Nowadays peer pressure in school or college or in jobs or even in business is huge leading to a state of melancholy. Targets, results, turnover, selection, achievement, goals, are taking a toll on both physical and mental health of human beings. If one is not sound enough with his or her emotional quotient and spiritual quotient, one may succumb to his social, financial or emotional pressure and is been pushed to be in a state of sulking. Possibly, therefore, only a weekend holiday is kept in all professions, so that a potential depressant pulls himself out of that phase by indulging in variety of healthy activities and not seeking a resort to intoxicants like alcohol or drugs.

You may easily believe all states of human mind are regulated by specific chemicals which are called HORMONES in human body. There are some good hormones and some are stress hormones. Good hormones are released when you are happy. Otherwise also when someone is unhappy or gloomy, stress hormones are released in the body. Here again choice is ours as how can we opt to remain in state of being sad or frolic.

When we are stressed to our pressures, stress hormones like Cortisol, Insulin, Adrenaline and Noradrenaline are released.
These stress hormones take care of human body to handle Fear, Fight and Flight.

There are happy hormones namely, Dopamine, Serotonin, Endorphin and Oxytocin.
These happy Hotmones take care of human body to keep and optimum cool status of blood pressure, blood sugar, relaxed mood of a person. Happy Go Lucky is the saying goes for such people.
